“A central Network such as the ASN is vital in ensuring that chemists are kept up to date with the latest initiatives, techniques, products, services and awards.”
EYP

The EYP meetings have been running since 1995 and over this time have continued to grow in popularity and acclaim.

The meeting consists of lecture sessions and CPD training, but perhaps most importantly there is the opportunity to meet and network with other young analysts from a range of disciplines and backgrounds.

The topics covered are designed to broaden the delegates scientific knowledge base – encouraging them to think laterally about the potential applications of a wide range of analytical techniques. Speakers are chosen for their ability to inspire and motivate as well as their scientific prowess.

Examples of the conference themes covered over the last ten years include:

  • If you cant take the sample to the lab take the lab to the sample
  • Give it a sporting chance – the role of analytical techniques
  • From Alchemy to Zymurgy
  • Where size matters

Topics covered have included:

  • Miniturisation
  • Process Analytical Technology
  • Analysis of fuels for the F1 circuit
  • Development and analysis of high performance materials by Speedo for the Olympics
  • Brewery Science
  • Fire investigation
  • Toxicological Screening
  • Remote Sampling / Analysis

"EYP2005 was an excellent event. It's a great chance to meet analysts from all areas of the discipline and I would strongly encourage our younger analysts to attend in the future and get actively involved in the RSC."
