“A central Network such as the ASN is vital in ensuring that chemists are kept up to date with the latest initiatives, techniques, products, services and awards.”

Welcome To The ASN

The Analytical Science Network (ASN) is the younger members branch of the Analytical Division of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). It was established specifically for young/early career researchers, in an effort to foster the careers of present and prospective analytical scientists and to promote analytical science by:

  • organising and / or participating in informal regional update meetings,
  • by networking with other young analytical scientists,
  • by creating opportunities for younger analytical scientists to enhance their subject knowledge and transferable skills, thereby ensuring their Continuing Professional Development; and
  • by helping to raise the awareness of analytical science within the scientific community, our schools and universities and to the general public promoting its importance and value to society.
Scientific improvement is a core activity of the ASN, who aim to provide quality seminars, symposia and networking events both regionally and nationally. These are an integral part of the CPD process, and maximum accessibility for all ASN members is a priority. This is best achieved by the collaboration and co-operation of experienced professionals in industry and academia to the benefit of our own careers, and our quality as analytical scientists.

Our members come from both industry and academia and represent a diverse cross section of analytical disciplines. Membership of the RSC is not essential although, where appropriate, members are made aware of the benefits of joining.

Through these web pages, we make the ASN's activities more accessible and also give a wider audience the chance to share ideas via the Members Page, meet up for an informal meeting (via the Upcoming Events page and become involved!

The best way to get the most out of being a member is to get involved:

  • Meet other members at EAP and meetings and events
  • Develop your networking skills and personal contacts
